FAKE CONDOM RECOVERED IN UGANDA
The
Uganda’s National Drug Authority (NDA) has published that the Life Guard brand
condoms failed to manufacture “quality tests” because the condoms contain holes
and sometimes might burst.
The affected
condoms that was manufactureed by India-based MHL Healthcare in the month of
April 2019 and have an expiry date of April 2024, the government said.
Earlier reports had
suggested that millions of the condoms were recalled but NDA spokesman Fred
Ssekyana told AFP the figure was below one million.
Marie Stopes Uganda
spokesman David Kamu told AFP on Wednesday, November 20, that the
two affected batches each contained "around 400,000" condoms.
According to
UNAIDS, 1.4 million Ugandans are living with HIV, and they are among the
highest number of people living with the disease in the world.
